Tooth whitening in horsham

Teeth whitening is a safe and effective way to brighten your smile, and many patients say they feel more confident after treatment. Everyday things like tea, coffee, red wine, and smoking can cause teeth to become stained over time. Our professional whitening treatment is designed to gently lift these stains and help restore the natural brightness of your teeth.

This treatment is ideal if you’re preparing for a special event, such as a wedding, or if you simply want to refresh your smile. Many patients tell us they feel more confident and refreshed after whitening.

How long does it take?

The full treatment usually takes two to four weeks and involves three visits to our practice.

What is the treatment process?

First appointment:

Your dentist will assess you to see if you are suitable. If you are, your dentist will either take a mould (impression) or scan of your teeth. This is sent to a dental laboratory, where custom-made whitening trays are created to fit your teeth comfortably and precisely. Making the trays usually takes around two weeks.

Second appointment:

Once your trays are ready, you’ll collect them along with your whitening gel. Your dentist will show you exactly how to use the trays and gel at home. You’ll usually wear the trays overnight for 14 consecutive nights. Photos of your teeth may be taken before treatment begins.

Final appointment:

Your dentist will review your results and take after-treatment photos. In some cases, you may benefit from an extra one to two weeks of whitening, which your dentist will discuss with you.

Other important information

Some people experience mild tooth sensitivity during teeth whitening treatment. This is usually temporary and can often be managed with desensitising toothpasteor stopping treatment for a few days. Sensitivity typically settles shortly after treatment finishes.

Whitening only works on natural teeth. Crowns, veneers, and white fillings will not change colour, but your dentist will discuss this with you at your initial consultation.
